Tumbler?

I'm not a reloader as of yet, have most of the equipment now, have never pulled the handle yet though. As for a cleaning brass, I have been looking at the ultrasonic cleaners (same stuff dentists, etc. use for cleaning equipment). Can get them fairly cheap on fleebay. Have read a few articles about using them for reloading and the results all seem very good. Just haven't broke down and bought one yet as a buddy will lend me his tumbler for a bit until I figure out what I am doing. Something to look at though.

ultrasonic not needed......plus then you gotta wait for brass to dry..........just get yourself a dry tumbler using walnut or corncob media and all will be good.

I use the walnuts for taking the tarnish off. Waaaaay faster than the corn cob. I use the corn cob to remove the last of the lube after sizing.

If you want to pick media out of primer pockets, flashhole, dust in the case, plus not actually clean the inside of the brass..get a vibratory tumbler.

P.S your still suppose to wash them in a vibratory.. so you will have to dry them..

or you can get what I did...

Bass Pro in Vaughn has a full line of reloading supplies, and at least 3 types of tumbers including Lyman.

Given the size and shipping costs of a tumbler and Media picking it up at Bass Pro is your best option

If you want a good, quiet tumbler that will last you decades, you should be looking at a rock tumbler. A Thumler Model B or Lortone QT-12 are good choices. Canadiantreasureseekers.com carries both Thumler and Lortone tumblers.

I like to use plastic beads as tumbling media. When they get dirty, I just wash them by running them wet in the tumbler in a trisodium phosphate solution, which also cleans the tumbler barrel. Of course, this requires a watertight barrel. I get the beads from Bedrock supply in Edmonton.

The Lyman with autoflow was the worst tumbler I bought. The plastic is thin and flimsy. The tumbler will move around over any surface unless it's squicky clean. It doesn't have an on/off switch. It's noisy. The autoflow is a gimmick IMO. First of all, when it's get almost empty, try to imagine how much noise a tumbler will make shaking brass without media... Ugh... Plus, you will have a lot of brass with some media left inside.

My Lyman tumbler broke after 13 months, what a POS. I bought the Dillon and never looked back.
