Tumblers and Stainless Pins

I have a Thumbler Model B; son in law has a Frankfort Arsenal Tumbler. Both work well but Frankfort is faster if speed is an issue. It is somewhat more convenient to use. Having said that, my old Thumbler has worked well for 3 decades tumbling dry media and wet media (pins). Speed/convenience vs durability-your call
A little hint. Go to your local Dollarama and buy one of their fine mesh strainers. Dump pins & water into strainer. Strainer captures pins with no losses. Be sure you buy the fine mesh one. (They have strainers with different size mesh) Good $3.00 investmrnt

Good tip will have to take a look I use old nylon p hose stretched on a coat hanger right now

You can also pick up a five gallon cloth strainer bag at any paint Store, the fit a bucket perfectly and are fine enough to hold the pins.

Tide cold water laundry detergent works better than kitchen Dove soap.. less sudsing easier to rinse, hot water rinse as well helps drying

I agree, I use the HE stuff, just 1/3 teaspoon to 4 litres.
at that rate, wife would never noticed it missing lol.

Mine? Made in the 70's, yep still working. Good machine, but I just want something that really cleans the brass in and out
I found with new corn cob media and polish I had to run it all night to get the outside nice, but now I'm almost out of media and decided to try the SS wet route.

Ordered the Frankford, with magnet and Lyman media sifter.

If it's the Thumbler Model B then the capacity isn't quite that high. See here for info. The tumbler can handle about 2 lb of brass, so it's about 150-230 .308, depending on how much water you put in there. Note that it's based on weight, not volume-- it's not hard to put so much brass in there that the motor can't turn the tumbler.

I guess I have been putting in too much brass. I usually put the brass in first (it holds a lot) and then fill with water. But it seams to work good. Thanks for the link.

Hey if it works and the motor doesn't seem to be straining, why not?

Mine just slows down and sort of stops when I overload it. My motor is a Fasco U63. Maybe yours is something a bit beefier?

Im another fan of SS tumbling. Use a food dehydrator if You want to speed up dry time

My Frankford setup came today and of course had to try it out.
Yep, works as advertized. This makes reloading much easier. Old dirty 9mm cases look like new. I'm sold

I seen a video where a guy puts his wet brass in a pillow case and throws it in the clothes dryer. I don't think that would be my first choice.
