Tumbling looks like cr@p.

For some reason I dont get a nice shine unless I ad a polishing agent like brasso or some others that I'm sure your sporting goods store knows about.
 
Just keep running brass through, then start over, there may be a bit too much polish when new, it will get better. Like anything new we all find things that are not just right. Remove some media and replace with corn media may get things going a bit faster. I also picked up some of the lymans green liquid, it is for re generating media.
The big thing is wash up after messen with this process. You know the lead and other bad stuff that gets into a tumbler.

Another tip for you cheap bastards...
I buy my walnut shell from an industrial abrasives supplier. $30 for a fifty pound sack.
Look in the yellow pages and you'll find a supplier.
