Tumbling media and additives - nufinish?

I switched from corn cob to crushed walnut a while back. I am cleaning a few hundred 9mm at a time, and smaller batches of other pistol and rifle brass. I find my brass is cleaned quicker with the walnut but the finish is dulled.
Reading the forums here I see several references to adding Nufinish polish to the media to add a bit of shine to the brass.
I used to add the Dillon additive to my corn cob but was wondering if there is anything worth adding to walnut?
Thanks in advance.
Glen

Use a mix of crushed walnut shell and corncob (make sure it can go in and out of the case size wise) and add a cup or two of NuFinish or similar polish/wax (some others smell very nice) and run loaded tumbler for 2 hrs - clean and shiny and won't oxidize and loose color.
I use 30/70 mix of walnut/cob. You can reuse media for 3-5 times, just add another 30mins to each next run. You can use timer and set it to run while away from home :)

oh boy i sure hope you mean a cap or two haha

2 cups? I think that would make it into slush in the tumbler not to mention the cost.

I use green treated cob. Brass comes out like new after 3hrs tumbling. I'll add some Lyman polish to reactivate the cob when it starts to take longer. I think I'm due to change out the media.

You must mean a cap full or 2 not a cup full.

This is the same concoction I use, but I also add 1/4 tsp of Solvol Autosol metal polish & 12 - 1" x 1" cotton (t-shirt material) squares into the mix. The cotton absorbs a lot of the black crap, polishes the brass & makes your media last longer. Throw them out after each use.

Thanks and all the best for 2014 Henry

crushed walnut shells from the pet store is dirt cheap and last a long time. the nufinish makes the world of difference. just make sure the clumps of the paste are broken up when you turn the tumbler on. cuts the polish time in half. also throw in an old fabric sheet or a paper towel ripped into three.

Sorry to hijack the thread but what's the best cleaning media(coarse= more cleaning?) rather than polishing? I use corn cob but it doesn't clean primer pockets. Or is that normal and primer pocket always need to be cleaned manually?

You'll want to use stainless media and wet tumble or an ultrasonic bath to get those pockets clean.
