Cleaning off deprimed 25-06 with media seems a pain as nearly every case has to be picked clean.
Not going s/s ball or pin route. Just thinking of plugging neck with foam, similar to ear plug.
Not the quickest, but quicker than picking out corncob. Anyone else in this boat...ideas...
Cheers

Well of course the media will get down into the case. You have to shake I out, back into the tumbler. I never plug up the necks because the media cleans the interior of the case as well, not lots but a little bit.

Are you talking about ,just in the flash hole? If so,I used to use a small pick, just poke them through.
I was using that Lyman ,red walnut, and that would stick every where. I tryed the green stuff and it was much better, only had it stuck in the flash hole.
I'm now using a FA wet tumbler,it's much better, but is a bit slower process.

I have a 3 in threaded rod on my tumbler that is used to hold on the lid with a wing nut I leave the tumbler running and hold the brass close to the rod and it rattles out the media , I hold 3 or 4 at a time .

Are you using a rotary media separator, or just a sieve? A rotary separator should knock out the media from the inside of the case.

When the cleaning process is finished I take all the brass out of the tumbler then while it is running (with just the media in it) I hold the case neck down on the side of the tumbler. That seems to get all of the media out of it.

If you want to test your hand/eye coordination, instead of emptying the tumbler just grab the casings as they cycle by and do the same thing.

Like Ganderite says. I bent lots of de-capping pins using corn cob, switched to crushed walnut shells, simple tap on side of tumbler as I remove the case, and I haven't had a blocked flash hole since.

I see the wet stainless steel crew get the odd steel pin stuck in the flash hole, which could be a bear to remove, especially after it has been jammed in there with a de-capping pin. Likely the pin wouldn't look too healthy either!

Primer pocket not a problem. Cob media sticks inside case jammed tight and full. Yes I let them rattle on the upside down lid, but this only works for a few.
Cut some yellow foam ear plugs in 1/2 the long way, & they tuck in and seem to stay. Running some in the tumbler right now. If it works, loading the
foam is only 1/2 or less time than the picking. 308 not quite as bad as the 25-06 but not far behind. Snider 577, no problem (chuckle).
Trying to be frugal, or I'd pop for some stainless pin or higher end media.
Will let you know how the foam pans out. Thanks for responces.
Cheers

switch to crushed walnut - either Princess Auto or Lizard bedding from pet store. will solve all your problems.

In fact, anybody here with surplus crushed walnut to send him? I can't see anybody needing all 47lbs extra from that 50lb Princess Auto bag. Send me some too, I'l emt you the cash.
