Where's the best place around Saskatoon or online to order tumbling media? I've been using corn cob, but I hear walnut works as well. Not interested in paying $30 for 3 lbs like the little tubs they sell at Cabelas. Also not interested in trying to be sold on stainless wet tumbling, ultrasonic, etc.

Go to a sandblasting company and get some corn blast and mix it 60/40 cornblast and Lyman Treated Corn Cob. Save your used Bounce dryer sheets and put them in the tumbler (2 or 3), depending on the size of the machine. Change out the dryer sheets every load.

This is what I've been using for 12 years.

my local Princess Auto sells a large 50lbs bag of crushed walnuts. $50
I got mine almost 2 yrs ago and I have maybe 1/4 bag left. I tumble a lot of brass .
I tried a glass bead media turned out like sandblasting.. not good.

I want to try wet tumbling but im cheap as F$$K

I hate cleaning walnut dust out of the cases.Somewhere I read rice works well without making a mess.Haven't tried it yet.

Do what I did, put away your loonies and twoonies. They add up fast

I tried the dry stuff and it packs into primer pockets. Wet tumbling is a bigger investment at first but the results are night and day.
All you do is wait for the brass to dry and it’s as good as new.

I bought a bag at PA and use it all the time. I tear up ordinary paper towel and put it in the media. I mostly use a Frankford vibrating doohinkey. Seems to do the job. I also have a little Thumbler's Tumbler i used to use, and still use it once in a while. Right now I am using it to smooth out some .395 WW balls made for my 3' LE No.1 .410.

If you use a media separator after tumbling (cage-thing with a handle to crank the cleaned brass over a bunch of times and dump the walnut media in a bucket underneath for re-use) then the dust goes away. Do this outdoors and stand upwind!

As for the dust , use a polishing compound added to your media , it keeps it down.I have a frankford Arsenal liquid that does the trick but I hardly every dry tumble now that I use wet and stainless pins .

Switch to wet tumbling. One time investment and results are waaaay better
Cheers
