Tumble them before you decap, otherwise the tumbling media will plug the flash holes and you will have to pick them clean one at atime. Also the clean brass is easier on your resizing die.
Thanks guys.... damn now i have to find some toothpicks....Should have knowed and asked before I when and dropped 300 rounds of 9mm deprimed in the tumbler....oh well now i know....
If you've got a reason for tumbling after, try and use a universal decapping die first to save your dies. If you load on a progressive, that same die can also be used in station one to clear the flash holes.
Usually neither. I only tumble every few reloads when the brass starts looking really dull and nasty. Otherwise, if they're clean, I'll just run 'em into the die as it.
Deprime with a deprime die, then tumble. That way the primer pockets get cleaned too.
Then resize.
Most resizing dies come with a tool designed to poke right through the flash hole, often during the resizing operation, that way no time is lost.
Universal decap die can be used on just about any case as it does no sizing, it just decaps and in alot of cases it is just an extra step as you will still have to resize cases, I use it on cases that i am not planing to resize. ie: cases for Black powder or breach seating.
I use a universal decapping die on my fire formed brass and then just neck size, trim, etc. Then again, I only have one centerfire rifle so I don't have to worry about mixing up brass between different rifles.
