Can you tumble brass after priming but before dumping powder and seating a bullet. I'm talking about a 20 minute tumble to take off the case lube.

Will media vibrating in the case with a live primer damage the primer? Is it in any way dangerous?
 
I dont know about safe but the media and dust will fill the primer likely causing misfires. Also you should keep your priming step away from case lube. Grease or oil on a primer will cause misfires.
 
Primers are more robust today - you'd likely do okay for hunting or coyote loads, but it'd be better to tumble to remove the lube, then prime (I do).
 
Polishing granules stuck in flash holes can't be a good thing. Tumble after sizing, before priming. Make sure flash holes and primer pockets are clear before priming.

I was hoping to avoid having to pick granuals of media out of flash holes. Looks like I'll just stick to wiping them with a rag.
 
Are you priming on your press after resizing? If yes, resize, dump them in the tumbler until to your liking, check flasholes and then prime. About the same amount of time just in a different order.

I'm not going to say that it can't be done, or that it will cause problems, but it certainly strikes me as the single worst time to be tumbling. Dust in the primers and media plugging the flash holes may not cause problems, but why tempt fate?

Tumble right after depriming or after seating a bullet, not in between.
