Got that Turk m38 Mauser at Christmas, been playing around with it and getting pitiful results! It was very dirty, missing the ejector spring and the barrel was so dirty it almost looked unsalvageable. I've been scrubbing and oiling her for weeks and she's starting to look real good( as good as a been there done that gun can) .
Today I'm home alone and super bored, not to mention the Mauser has been bothering me for weeks. So I tore her down again and gave the barrel it's 100th good scrubbing, the patches are finally starting to come out cleanish. I moved the front sight over to the left as far as it will go, it was shooting WAY left when I got it. Infact it took me 10 shots to even get a round on the paper lol! I figured out earlier this week that the barrel is ever so slightly unscrewed so the rear and front sights are in line with each other but are canted to the right.
I love this gun, and it's teaching me a lot about working up loads and improving accuracy. I've been lucky so far, other then my SKS every other milsurp I've bought has been stellar in the accuracy department and I've really had to do nothing to them. This Mauser on the other hand I've had to work at it to get her to cooperate.
Finally it's starting to shoot the way I knew it could.
Group 1 on the right had a 1 grain lower charge then the other 3 groups, think I'll have to try some more like that. These were shot from a rest @ 40 yards, just to see what's what. Finally got her shooting center, she shoots high but its a Mauser so I expected that.
