A few years back I bought one each of the semi Weatherby wood stocked 12 & 20. I shoot only target loads in these guns. The twelve always has worked fine, but the twenty wouldn’t extract/eject properly. Took it to a gunsmith who cleaned the machine marks in the action guts, now it works the way it should.

I also bought a gas operated Ithaca/SKB XL300 from H4831 some years back. It is a very nice shotgun. I took it out and fired off three Challenger target loads. Boy, does it fling the hulls! I have a Beretta AM301 2 3/4 &3 that doesn’t work well with target loads.

A few days ago, four of us spent an afternoon blazing away at clay pigeons. I did my best shooting with a Norinco mag fed pump with a ghost ring and a shorter barrel.

I know a couple of guys with the Weatherbys that love them, the 20g was in serious consideration when I was looking for a semi for the wife. Always nice to switch it up lol, that Norc sounds fun! I like to shoot Trap with an M2 clone, 18 1/2” barrel and red dot from time to time 👌

Had an s 08 in 28g for many years shot grouse and early pheasants. Never missed a beat then found out there was a recall on them when you closed the action the firing pin grazed the primer on the shell in the barrel. Some hit hard enough to discharge mine never did. However I sent it in to Calgary shooting center they did the recall and was back in several months. People at Weatherby were great as were the people in Calgary. I sold the gun primarily as it was a 26" barrel (prefer 28") and the new A 400 Beretta upland came out in 28g 3".otherwise it would still be here.

The Sa-08 is a fine enough "use once in a while" gun. I had one for a couple of years, probably put 5 or 600 rounds through it and it was fine. Mostly I used it in the goose blind where I didn't care if a $500 dollar gun got bashed around but I shot several rounds of sporting clays with it prior to relegating it to a hunting gun.
My gunsmith buddy does see them from time to time and for the most part he won't work on them as they're usually not worth the price of the repairs. Broken bolt locks seem to be prevalent on guns that get used a bit more than average.
They were (are) made by ATA in Turkey and the quality of their products in general seems to be a bit hit and miss.

Those older berettas are all 3" capable guns. Its the barrel that dictates chamber length. The 3" marked barrels are designed for heavy loads. If you buy a 2.75" only barrel it should function fine with trap load

I have an 18i weatherby 20 gauge but this one says it’s made in Italy not Turkey
It looks/feels better built then any of the Turk shotguns that I have

I could be misinterpreting the OP but I thought he was referring to the Sa-08 Weatherby but I could be wrong.
The olde Beretta SA's are entirely a different beast!

He stated his beretta didn't cycle well with trap loads. If it was a 3" chambered barrel that would be why.
There wasnt a direct question asked in his post

Does the S-08 Weatherby still come with the dual gas piston? One for light loads one for heavy, I know my 28 did but am not up on the new models.
