Turkey chokes, are they necessary?

Testing turkey chokes is like testing powders when reloading, you will end up sticking with one and shelving the rest (ask me how I know, I got a tackle tray full of them). I ended up going with the Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike series of chokes with a .655 constriction. They come with 30 parallel ports that act as both a muzzle brake and wad stopper. You cannot use the Federal flight control wads in them though because of the way the wad stop works. I think they are one of the best out there now. Just remember that tighter is not allways better with big heavy loads of lead as you can over choke (contrict) the shot column and turn the patter into crap. This is something you will have to try and see what works best in your gun. Gobble Gobble.
Regards.

One benefit to a super full is that the number of fliers is reduced and few pellets end up in the edible portions of the bird. One disadvantage is that under stress it is harder to centre the head at longer distances.

I have never had Winchester X-tended Range 6's fail to perform in any full-XXfull I have tried them in. They also tend to exit so you don't have pellets in the meat.
