So I got up at 6:30 this morning and made my coffee and went out to the porch to have my coffee and smoke (kid won't let me smoke in the house, little pr!ck). I was just waking up nicely when I heard a tom gobble over in my horse pasture somewhere, it's a bit of a country residential area and the neighbors have chickens etc so the gobble initially went in one ear and out the other without really registering. Then he gobbled again and it dawned on me none of the neighbors have tame turkeys and it must be one of our wild toms exercising his lungs. Cool I thought............then I thought maybe I should have a Merriams tom mounted.........but alas no hunting license yet, so I just sat and listened to him calling his girls.......... Cool sound to wake up to !!!!

Douglas... when you have three or four toms coming in, gobbling and trying to race each other to the hen (you), it gets your blood pumping. The way we call back and forth with the toms, always reminds me of a mini moose hunt. Hope the birds settle into your area... they are a lot of fun.

Hahahaha..........Biggly'un dunt yah dare............

I think Mr. Dewglas is mistaking that Tom as a yote calling in terkies.
Heez frum the great white north and not fummillyar wid hour yote manners.

Think I got a picture of me with that exact pose 'Looky, a Rio Grande turkey, that one, and taken with a 22 Hornet, the other was with a 22 Mag pistol........AMT Automag II.......turned out to be a bearded hen, so I got her mounted too !!!

Seems to me SuperBrad already gave me chit for the pose and gunning one down with a rifle and pistol..............said something about shotguns, but hell I shot one at close to 200 mtrs and the other at about 75 mtrs and I have no idea how one is supposed to do that with a shotgun..............silliness.....

I would love to us my 22 win mag for the turkeys but we have so many dumb azz turkey chasers here in Ontario that we may only us a shotgun with shot sizes 4 5 or 6 ,,or a bow ,to many guys want to trespass here it would not be safe to set a decoy out were thy may see it as you many get shot ,Dutch

me to saw a big old tom out strutting his stuff for the ladys ,only about a month to go ,got to get then new luppy vxr lined up on my 20g ,gots me some Hornady heavy magnum #5 loads and some fed #5 as well as a box of Winchester #6 shot so we will see what the testing will show ,this 20g is for my girls to shoot some big old toms ,,,Dutch

All reports point to a couple truck and trailers of turkeys in the dark being released all those years ago in BC. Straight from a Bio's mouth.

A head wildlife guy has forever been pissed about it and doesn't like any new introductions of species. But what happens during midnight nobody knows!!
