Another money grabber for the government is all it is! As far as that " so called hunter"... he needs a frickin' good7.62mm said:+2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 here. The course in an absolute joke. They only want people to pass, no matter what. When I took my course they already had the "Certificates" filled out, before they even started in the morning. What a joke. Like someone else already mentioned, at least there is one less asshat out there while I am hunting, and I hope he loses his hunting privledges forever.
I feel sorry for the person/girlfriend/spouse that he shot. Lucky for him though, there are those that might have felt it nesecary to return fire.

I find it hard to believe a hunter ed instructor could make such a negligent mistake.

ckc123 said:I think the course is a waste of time and money. A course like that is NOT going to teach someone safety if they don't already know or practice safe hunting (you should have learned that during Hunter Ed).. there are no new safety regs or rules for turkey, that you shouldn't already be following for any other game you hunt.
The "education" you get during the course, again is not much different from when a hunter starts to begin to hunt any other species (Eg starts to duck hunt). you learn species identification, shot placement, decoy use etc..
So why does the hunter need to learn this differently for Turkey, then they do for any other species.. I don't see a course showing a hunter the difference between a Moose Cow and a Moose Calf!!!
The fact is that hunters have to do thier OWN homework when it comes to hunting new species, and expecting that a 2-3 hour course, is make a hunter safer, or give him all he needs to know to hunt turkey. your just kidding yourself.
BIGREDD said:I would disagree with you.. and I am only guessing that your Turkey Hunting Experience is somewhat limited.
Any seasoned Turkey Hunter knows that it is a DIFFERENT kind of hunt with DIFFERENT and more challenging safety aspects.
BIGREDD said:Yeah, both good points. I agree that Hunter Education is necessary and that Turkey Hunting is a very dangerous sport. The fact that Turkey Hunting requires a level of training and safety above and beyond is indisputable and most long time Turkey Hunters are aware of this and act accordingly.
How would you change the Program W/F?
You have my attention.BIGREDD said:I would disagree with you.. and I am only guessing that your Turkey Hunting Experience is somewhat limited.

I am not saying that the current Program is perfect... but I think there would be more accidents without it! JBRO![]()
Julian is an experienced Turkey Hunter, of that there is no doubt. I have not heard much from him lately... prolly in the field doing it instead of talking about it.Waterfowler said:I would hire you and Julian to teach it, and me and Constablex would pepper spray or taser anyone that wasn't paying attention.![]()
