Turkey hunting Question.

I would like to know what youre opinion is on shooting coyotes checking out youre turkey decoys?.

I know that shooting a coyote during deer season is the way to go cause when you see a coyote from the deer stand, you most likely wont see a deer.

Does the same hold true for turkey?... I had one sniff the decoys today and did not see a turkey all morning,.... while sitting for 4 hrs.: In hind sight I wish Id pulled the trigger.

my buddy had a coyote come into his decoys a couple days ago. Shot it in the face with 3" #5 1 3\4 oz turkey load. Dropped it on the spot. From the shot, a tom shock gobbled not more than 100 yards away. He gave some soft loud yelps and the tom answered again. He ran out and dragged the coyote away from his decoys, 15 minutes later he had the tom laying beside the coyote.

Very nice outcome.:D

Now THAT'S how you roll!!! Awesome!!!

And YES, you should ALWAYS shoot coyotes when given the chance!

ALL coyotes should be SHOT ON SITE !!!!

Maybe its just been my experience but I don't find that the sound of a shotgun bothers the turkeys so much. I've shot birds and then had others one gobbling a very short time later. Shoot the coyotes for better turkey hunting for years to come...

Definitely shoot them. I had two coming in as I was leaving the bush with the tom I got this year. They have killed a bunch of lambs this year. Took a few cracks at them out past 100 yards but might as well have spit at them as all I had was #5...they didnt even know they were being shot at.

Definitely shoot a coyote if given the chance! In my experience gunfire doesn't spook game away. Just last weekend I shot a porcupine & 1/2 an hour later took a nice tom!

The next time you see a coyote while turkey hunting ask youself this question. How many young turkey chicks will this coyote eat in the next couple months?
Then squeeze the trigger on him. You will feel alot better doing so.
Happy hunting.
