Yesterday I went hunting just west of Westbank B.C. and came across two turkey. It is with great interest to watch the B.C. turkey polulation explode, and I look forward to hunt these tasty birds :)

Otherwise, at the end of the day, I also splotted four deer, but it was getting late in the day, and it was impossible to see if any of them had antlers.

I was looking for moose, but they were clearly still up in the high country, which are wast. Well next time maybe :)

Turkeys seem to be a species that are very capable of surviving & flourishing.

In Ontario ( In the 80's I believe ) they were set out into the wild. The population has really grown over the years. I live about 30 Klms north of Toronto & see them in my back yard often.
A few weeks ago, at my club, we had to call a cease fire on the 100 metre range while a flock of about 15 turkeys wandered across.

I am not a hunter but i would sure like to try and get a wild turkey.
West of westbank you say.I am in the okanagon and might have to check it out next year maybe.

We have tons of those wild turkeys in the Kootenays, they came up from the US. I'm not sure they are really tasty though ;-) However, free meat is free meat...

Well if they didn't taste very good, what would be the point? - But I'd think that they must be pretty good. Amazing what one can do with marinades and rubs though. :)

Add $0.10 worth of potatoes and you get a full belly...

:laughs: well, I guess you know best ;-) To each their own tastes, don't say I didn't warn you...

Ya, some of them taste pretty good ;-) Could probably 'cue up a sewer rat and have it come out tasty. Mmmm... sewer rat... Cheers

Ther is an open season for any turkey around Osoyoos and Oliver. Still have to figure out how to hunt for turkey in these areas :)

i saw lots of jakes and hens up anarchist this spring. no beardeds during the season though :(

Check some birdwatching websites. There are sightings of turkeys as far north as vernon or enderby!

It was only a few years ago that turkeys in BC were about as dumb as grouse, seems being shot at or hunted has made them a lot more harder to hunt, almost sporting now except for around Christina lake.
