This will be my 1st season turkey hunting.. I've got the pop up blind, comfortable out to 30 yards and ready to go.
A farmer was kind enough to let me hunt on his land in Winchester, On. He has a 200x200 yard soy field next to an identical corn field. The whole property is quite large. It seems like an ideal spot and it backs into dense forest (heavily deer hunted by the public) that may be south mountain Forrest?
I've driven by regularly during daytime hours for the last 3 months and seen only geese....not a whif of turkey. In fairness I've never gone before 9am.
Should I be hunkering down in my blind right at sunrise and start calling with turkey/crow calls?
Or should I be venturing off into the bush?
How deep into the bush do turkeys roost? The mere fact I see turkeys roaming my neighborhood and occasionally causing traffic back ups in the city leads me to believe they would likely roam freely on the lush fields i hunt on.....if they were there.
Thoughts?
