Well, my first Ontario spring turkey season is over and I got skunked! Between work, planting season and the kids, I just didn't get out hardly at all. I think the best part of the season was driving down the road with my 4 year old daughter and having a turkey run out. Stopped the truck and we watched it run out of the ditch and across the field. Then my little girl says "Daddy...you shoulda brought your gun. I think those will be yummy."

Hopefully I'm the only one to not fill my tag, but if there is anyone else, it sure would make me feel better if anyone cares to admit to it. :p

Also, I don't recall reading or hearing anything about it, but are we supposed to report unfilled tags? Or do you just forget about it and start over in the fall?

I am in the same boat as you......

My excuse,,,I didn't even go out, once......

I did buy my tag though....

hopefully the fall hunt will be better and I will find the time to go, but moose is going to take precedent.....

At least my gear stays in good shape till the next time....

I smell like skunk also :D:D My first season, but had a great time on all the hunts ( even getting up before 4 )
I got tired of the mosquitos on Thursday am, so went to the range on Friday and Saturday. I find that Turkey hunting is very cheap in the ammo department. :p
I still have all my shells.

I also got skunked but had good hunts each of the five times I was out. Heard toms all five times, called a tom in twice, called a hen in twice, called a coyote in twice (and was widely critcized for not blasting them) and had a deer walk towards me and stop and feed withing 30 yards. I finally figured out where the toms roosted on the property I hunted, at least this year. The 2 toms were a sneaker about 20 yards directly to my right caught out of the corner my eye that I couldnt get a good shot at so I passed and one hung up 60-70 yards away. I learned a bit this year-maybe hunt from a pop up blind, I would have got the sneaker and dont overcall, which I think I always do. I think you only report if you fill a tag.

I just finished up my third year of skunkedness. I don't get out as often as I'd like, but more often than a lot of hunters. I guess there's always next year. I'll just keep contributing to the MNR in the meantime

I hunted twice a week and got nadda.

One hell of an exciting experience though! It was my first turkey season, although I have been hunting just about everything else for over 10 years.

Closest I was, a gobbler hung up at 40 yards. He wanted my decoy, but couldn't find his way across a swamp! What an exciting hunt though, the ground shook when he lit up.

None for me this year, mostly due to busy schedules. Only got out 4 times, but the damn hay is too high now. Blew my only chance, Thomas couldn't see the decoy...:p

Spring tag goes in the garbage, you need a different tag for the fall season...

X2, there's always next year and the MNR appreciate my donations!

I failed to fill my tag this year as well.

Had several sightings, some distant gobbles, a few hens wander through, but no toms come close. Had two jakes get hung up at the fence 50 paces away, but it was tough to get a bead on them through the tall grass.

I will say that I am impressed with how my Thermacell works. The mosquitoes were bad near the end and it made sitting in the bush much more tolerable... almost pleasant.

Seemed to be fewer birds than previous seasons in this area - not sure if others felt the same about that? WMU92 in SW Ontario.

Went out twice, only had a big hen come into decoy. I have NEVER seen so many deer though. Every time I'm working out in the fields this years seems I've seen them.

Tag soup for me again this year. I managed to call a hen in once and heard some distant gobles a second time. Seen several deer too though. My original hunting grounds seemed to only hold a single hen, so I had to secure some new territory ASAP. Hunted the new spot twice, but couldn't connect.
