Apparently they are like chickens and friendly..when you approach them without a gun..:p

A couple of months ago, they would be smoking in hell (or cooking in my stove) course never saw any when I was actually out hunting them. This group let me get a 2-3 feet from them. I couldve killed the whole flock with a shovel......:p

Were you operating a motor vehicle when you took these photographs?

OK , sorry, just thought about it. At the speeds you normally drive the photo would be of feathers, beaks and turkey balls in various states of disintegration! :p

And those white ones are commonly known as the Eastern Swan Turkey by the scientific crowd.

Around here we have a few white turkeys that are definitely wild. Not sure if these are cross breads or just albinos or what have you. Never seen 2 in the same flock though.

Interesting photo. Never saw an albino wild turkey, but who knows? there are albino moose and deer in rare cases. Even if domestic they're flocking together. I've seen good numbers of young turkeys this summer. Saw 3-4 toms on one field and a bunch of little ones in another field on the way to work yesterday morning. When the hay is cut they like to get out and eat.

feral + mixed turkeys? Farm stock are not one and the same as the indigenous wild turkeys. Bad news.

X2 on the bronze turkey comment.

Buddy of mine raises them alongside the white ones. There are lots of backyard bird farmers, looks like there is someone in the neighborhood missing some birds.

The birds in your pic were all born this spring. If they were wild turkeys they would be with adults, not out on their own.

Yeah I was! I had my buddy hold the wheel while I dodged oncoming cars as clearly photographing the elusive feral turkey was the only importance. Without a gun it was like a Peta moment :p

THe close ups are just that, I parked right beside and tooks pics at about 2-3 feet away from them. It was sort of odd.

So what are the regs on shooting domestic escapees? Are they seperate from wild turkey regs?

There's no way you would ever get that close to true wild turkeys. The bronze turkeys are what they looked like before selective breeding produced the white birds.

Not true!

I have been hunting turkey since the mid 1990's. My brother and I finished up a hunt in southwestern Manitoba in about 2000 and dropped in to visit my parents just outside of Winnipeg. Winnipeg has numerous flocks of wild turkey within city limits. At my parents home, which is in La Salle and on a golf course, while sitting on their deck, slapping mosquitoes and regaling them with accounts of how wily and difficult wild turkey are to hunt, a good size tom walked out of the bush to within 10 feet of the deck. My 6 year old nephew proceeded to chase it around and around an ornamental spruce tree about 5 times. It was hilarious. It finally buggered off.

Wild turkey in an non hunt-able environment with lots of people (golf course) can get acclimatized to our presence.

However I don't think these are photos of real wild turkey. Most likely feral domestics.

You've got buddies that will ride with you??

As far as shooting ( not hunting ) them, just load up in the car, step out on the roadway and lay waste to the bastards!!! :ar15:

Do you hunt deer with a .223? :p

Or is this a USP hunter ethics pop quiz??
