Just wondering if the Turkish 1911s are any good and if the Tisas (Canuck) is any better than the Girsan. Or should I just continue to wait for a Norinco to come in, since they are half the price

Looking for a 9mm preferably commander in stainless.

Thanks

I have a generally dim view of Girsan pistols after watching them fail rapidly while part of my rental range's inventory. One of the Beretta clones suffered a cracked barrel at 100rds. Eventually all 5 of them ended up gutted for spare parts to keep the actual Berettas running. I don't think any of them lasted for more than a year.

When we got a Canuck 1911 in 9mm, I felt certain that it too would join the other Turkish pistols in the scrap bin. However, several years later it's still chugging along. It's sloppy and it rattles like crazy (and it did right out of the box too), and the trigger was pretty crappy. The manual safeties have a ton of play in them and don't inspire much confidence, but they do function properly. It continues to run, and I wager it has seen more mileage than 95% of gun owners will put their 1911s through. I think it's a decent gun for the money, but don't expect much in the way of fit and finish.

The Nork is actually a much better gun, but 9mm are a bit hard to find right now. 1911s should be .45 anyway.

I have a Tisas (as imported by IAC in the U.S. and marketed under the "Regent" name) and have no complaints ...

I pretty much only use it for the occasional "military action shooting" I do under the auspices of the Grand Army of the Frontier in the States, having decided I should stop wearing out my near-pristine 1914-production Canadian Purchase Government Model pistol in that sort of shoouting. Since I need to be able to take it into the U.S. I specifically chose something NOT made by Norinco, because the BATF won't approve those.

This photo was taken when I was shooting the original Colt ... :sok2 :rey2

The Nork will run circles around most 1911 style guns. Its made from FAR SUPERIOR steel.
Hard to find another thats built as tough !!
