I knabbed this rifle for $100 andit came with a cheap wood sporter stock and iron sights...

Im looking at re-freshing this rifle to make a swell bush gun, scope mounts have been done but what im running into issues with is finding a nice stock for it here in canada...i dont need anything custom just a replacement wood stock...

Anyone have an idea as to where i can find a good wood stock here in canada

Big problem now is WHICH Turkish Mauser.

A "Turkish Mauser" can refer to their version of the 1871..... or the Model 1887; both are .43-calibre rifles. Then there is the 1890 and the 1893 and the 1903 and the 1938. And there are all those darned 1888s and 1898s and 1898AZs and so forth that they got during the Great War. They ALL have different RECEIVERS and so they all will need different STOCKS.

1903, for an example, uses a 98 large-ring action..... but it is a MEDIUM-SHORT action that fits almost nothing else.

Ascertain exactly what you have before sending away for anything.... and know exactly what you will be getting.

MUCH better than buying a $100 stock and finding out that it doesn't work for your rifle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks smellie

Boyds provides a great reference guide on their site for measuring your rifle action and rings to be sure what stock you need....then on each stock they have they list what matches each referenced measurments.
