Turkish Bullpups Yay or Nay? Mags?

2 of my friends have the Hunt Group FD-12s. They've been reliable since the 200 rounds of break in. They use them at DSSMatch.com events and haven't had a single issue over two years of matches.
The FD12 type apparently have pretty heavy recoil for a semi. They take the widely available and reliable as44/mk12 magazines.
The other type on the market is the Spectre type design which uses a different magazine as it has a different latch and catch.
Haven't shot either but would opt for the FD12 if I were to. I already have a Turkish semi-automatic that takes those mags though as well as a Turkish pump that takes them, so no need. Those guns are super fun and feed without any issues.

Would ypu be able to elaborate a bit more on the nature of the HG 105 issues which you had experienced?
...every gun show has all kinds of old 870's on the tables, I know those are gtg?
870’s are great, but some people like variety. I know some old timers that had one rifle or one shotgun and got by just fine … these days … people can enjoy more than that. Just wondering what people that actually have shot one of these thought about them.
I had one of the first in canada. The LA K12 puma, I wanted it to be great… It wasn’t for me. So I sold it. What I didn’t like about it was that it felt like it twisted when firing slugs, normally recoil pushes back and up but that thing felt like it went to the right lol. It could have been me, just felt odd.

Fail to feed, barrel canted and not inline with rail and rubbing against backing plate as it heated up it was marking the barrel, after a couple days of hunting safety on safety off, the plastic tab holding safety selector broke, poor workmanship and shotty threading!
The big one was it would not cycle hunting rounds or target loads and safety. I bought it to prove I could use it for hunting and to horrify my old school hunting group. In the end I was the fool. I did take down several ducks and couple geese but it had too many issues. I put through several rounds of all types. It would jam on slugs too. By the time I received the third one and dismantled it for inspection had all the same quality aspects as the first 2 so sent it back. I tried hard to love it as it had good potential. Just poor QC as I seem to see with a lot of Turkey guns. Before that I tried a Turkey version of the 870. It broke on the second round. Maybe I have bad luck.
I personally don't trust Turkish guns any more than I trust Chinese guns. Spare parts? Forget it, buy a second gun when the first one breaks. Quality manufacturing? Hit or miss. Reliability? Hit or miss. Depends what factory made it on what day. I'd treat them like the French treated the American made Liberator 45acp Derringer in WW2. Shoot it until something better comes along. Just my personal opinion.
I’ve not been impressed with the Turkish manually operated guns I’ve handled (I’ve not tried any semis) … the Chinese grizzlies were built tough even if a little rough. Some of these bullpups seem to get good reviews, but not much out there to see.

i was running a FD12 today... it did not do well at all with low brass champion 1oz slugs... 1-2 jams/stove pipes a mag that required dropping the mag to clear.. ran the high brass buck shot like a champ though. 1 stove pipe out of 75 rounds.= of buck shot.
however spread was really bad off the 00 buck shot... like 1 pelt out of 9 on the 2/3 IPCC target at 25 meters. I guess i will try with a more restrictive choke next time. grab some high brass slugs as well.

I have a FD-12, broke it in with about 100 rounds of heavy pheasant loads of 1-1/4 ounce #4, buckshot and slugs. Never missed a beat, and cycles the lighter loads no problem. Built like a tank, but recoil is fairly heavy in comparison to other semis I've shot.
