Hello all,My son just got his P.A.L and Dad promised to pay half for his new shotgun .Money being a bit tight we are looking at the "Churchill Silver" pump gun sold by a site sponsor .We like the fact it comes with Walnut wood, a vent rib and 3 chokes and is under $400 Any thoughts good or bad thanks

Oh and Very merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year from the Brooks family to you and yours

Have fired about 500 shot shells and slugs through that made in Turkey 12 GA Canuck of mine with the 14" bbl.
I buck deer, a whole bunch of road chicken, 3 spruce grouse.
Pretty good gun for $200 + change.

I have used a churchill shotgun in the past..great gun, no issues with it at all. The price point is perfect..in my opinion

That's great guys sounds like we have an order going out for the lads first pump shotgun....Merry Christmas all

Not to knock the Turkish offerings (I have a couple myself) but you might be better off buying a Remington 870 if you want easy to find parts and barrels. I picked up a used 870 Express, changed a few parts out, bought a couple different barrels and managed to keep it all under $500. It's a great setup for the money.

You need to take your son to a local gun store so you have some idea of what make model fits best .

Exactly. I have an akkar here only because it was a 28ga and I still gather 28ga
That thing isn't even close to fitting me. I think I have to put extensions on my arms to pump it
Cheers

I like the Churchhill shotguns, they look pretty nice, and the quality is decent for the price point. Ive seen a couple with some pretty nice wood on them at the local shop.

For a first (and only gun for a period) I would recommend a Remington or Mossberg. Virtually unlimited parts upgrades and accessories. Additional barrels and chokes are widely available, new or used.

A quick google search for 870s, and the first one that came up was a Rem 870 Exp, 28" vent rib, Rem Choke (Mod), wood furniture for $405 on sale. Even with shipping it should slide in under $500.

Bullseye has a 2 barrel deal with scope for $618 free shipping.

I would go this route if your boy isn’t against a used shotgun for his first one, you’ll get a gun with more parts support and after market accessories.

Been through three Turk pumps. Still shooting my old Mossberg 500, because it’s a tank, and they aren’t. Just picked up another 500 for $200 off the EE.
