Turkish shotguns the anti Christ of Uplands

Not very scientific, but my Canuck pumps always go bang and eject shells without issue. My experience has only been mixed with Remington (rust) and Mossberg (finicky and the front sight fell off). YMMV

Your point is well taken but I don’t think North Americans are ready for a Turkish gun that is priced like a b gun yet. The day may indeed come but I dont think they have proven to be worthy of the price point yet.

But for ducks and upland it's great and light and it works.


I've had bad luck with a Charles Daly semi, gas operated. Won't run, it's a piece of garbage.

That sums it up well. As far as Huglu goes, I owned one,and friends own a few, no issues with any of them.
 
Had a silver reserve from Mossberg and a CZ ringneck. Used the 12 ga mossberg a few times and sold it, had a 20&28 combo set sold unfired. The CZ did not have the “feel” or fit so sold it too. There was no mechanical problem with either.

I like Turkish walnut, just not the rest of the gun.....I handled a few at Prophet River one day in trap and sporting models and they were very off balance. The weight was way out on the muzzle end so much so the butt felt extremely light. The weight was not between the hands and they felt like you were holding a 2x6 to your shoulder when you swung the muzzle. THe fit and finish were horrible imo too. For the same $ I could buy an older used Citori and have a much better built and finished gun....

The kimber line up of a decade or so was made in turkey and were priced higher than the silver pigeon line and the sxs guns priced similar to the big 3 spanish entry levels and they sold quite well. I believe they are now marketed under the dickinson arms brand. Very few kimbers come up for sale but when they do they go for 3 to 4 grand usd on the 2nd market
The dickinson royals are truly beautiful and made by akus in turkey. They made the kimber guns. They sell for about 5 or 6 grand usd. They sell and have a solid reputation.
 
Turkish guns

I have had nothing but disappointing experiences, with Turkish, O/Us. Kind of makes me shake my head reading all the post about, it a great gun after I replaced this at that and carved some wood off the stock. I guess I am old fashion and when I buy something I expect it to work. Miss fires, cracked stocks, jammed choke tubes, fussy on certain kinds of ammo. All this stuff drives me nuts. I shoot about 6000 rounds a year sporting, and hunt over my dog all fall. My Italian guns have worked flawlessly. I shoot a Caesar Guerini with a life time warranty. I watched a video about theses guns before I bought it, and when question about their life time warranty, the Caesar rep said "Warranty only cost you money if you produce junk" Being a manufacturing engineer for 40 years I tend to agree with him. 40k rounds so far no issues

This is a very interesting review on the Yildiz Pro Sporter. It's a direct copy of a Perazzi MX12. I don't know if the reviewer has a vested interest in selling these but he seems to be quite highly thought of on some clay target shooting forums and said to be an honest reviewer. If this gun is as honest as he says it to be then maybe Yildiz will be the Turkish manufacturer to break the turkish gun stigma?

There's several reviewers on youtube giving the gun high praise but more than one of them are flogging the guns to the public so I don't expect they are very objective in their statements. And of course they are all reviewing new guns and not ones that have sent thousands of rounds down range. I think Yildiz is capable of finishing the guns nicely but only time will tell how the guns are going to hold up to heavy use.
 
Several friends have Z guns and they're very happy with them but the problem is they're not holding their value very well on the used market yet since they're still not that popular. Used ones also seem to take a long time to sell. Also I think a lot of people hear the name Zoli and often think of the lesser quality Angelo Zoli guns instead of Antonio Zoli who makes the better quality ones. They're also double the price of the Yildiz new and out of reach of a lot of shooters!
 
The 2 Yildiz shotguns on thegundealer is 5K and 9K.

5K and 9K new can get you some nice new or used stuff. That would likely be most people's thinking. I seen a used Perazzi MX8 combo on dantesports for 5.5K not too long ago.

Resale is poor on Zoli, unless you plan to keep it forever.

There was a used Zoli combination gun on our EE. It lingered for quite a long time before it went away.
