auto regulating gas operation, its what the benelli m4 uses for its gas system. i assumed, and correctly it seems, that this uses the same system but i was asking out of curiosity because for all i knew they copied the outer looks of the benelli but with a totally different operating system, since that post ive found a vid on youtube of a guy field stripping on of these and the gas system looks identical to the benelli

Yes I hope Simon figures something out. It would be nice if I didn't have to fix it myself or at least had an easier way to go about it. As for the length question, unfortunately I think that is yet another situation without a clear answer. I would endeavor to make sure I use the shortest 3" I can find to make sure the capacity doesn't end up at 6 of certain 3". The biggest difference I have ever seen is a few mm at most.
