turning a 10/22 into a tack driver... (advice)

I have shot 2 T's and both were great right out of the box. 1" and under at 50 yds. with most cheap(Wally World) ammo. Match ammo did better.

Do the fat bull barrels really make a noticable difference regarding accuracy?

It just so happens the 94 gun digest has an article entitled "Make an accurate 22 semi auto"
The article deals with a few models of 22 semi auto like the 10/22 and Browning autoloader.
What I found interesting was the Norinco knock off of the Browning 22 auto loader. This thing sells for less that $200 at Marstar. Maybe the author got lucky but his knock off was so accurate right out of the box he didn't do anything to it.
