i may be able to get my hands on a old rolling block rifle with a badly damaged barrel .
i'm about 90% sure it is a " antique "

i'm told it is just a action and barrel , nothing else .

what i'm thinking is making a single shot pistol out of it , and rebarreling / rechambering it to 45-70 .

since it is on a antique action , should not the rebuilt handgun now be a antique too ?

any thoughts ?

As an antique firearm(action) there are no restrictions on barrel length just caliber. In my opinion(for whatever it's worth) I don't see an issue with your plans but if your concerned at all call a cfc tech and get it strait from the horse's mouth.

If you "manufactured" the pistol, do not pass go.

It's perfectly legal. I have the email from the CFC stating that barrel length on an antique is irrelevant because it was not a firearm to begin with. I can email it to you if you PM me your address. If you are unsure feel free to sell it to me so I can do the conversion....... :D
