When mounting a PU scope mount on a mosin Nagant the mount pins, do you use a slightly smaller drill bit and hammer in the pins? I have the rest figured but the pins! Do I need to use the pins? Will the screws be good enough?

The pins should fit snugly into the holes without the need to be driven in with a hammer, or possibly be tapped in very lightly. It should not be a loose fit. The screws alone are not enough.
Make sure the hole spacing in your scope mount matches that of the rifle, as there were three different spacings made. they are all within about a mm of each other. Do a bit of googling on PU scope mounting and you will see the differences between the different hole spacing.

There is more to mounting the scope mount than on most other rifles. You have to either file or shim the mount depending on how it fits the receiver, Find the how to online and follow the instructions carefully. Proper installation on these rifles is a lot more than just bolting the mount on.

One think you need to take into consideration. We discovered this while converting few ex snipers back to sniper configuration. Not very ex sniper was made ex sniper because of no demand or being worn out not shooting as accurate as it was expected of sniper rifle. Many of them are ex snipers because holes that are plugged are driled not in the proper spots or are of angle so standard out will be tilted or screw holes will not aline

I measured the holes and they are in the right spots and when I red rill them I will be using a quality drill press. I see the accumount doesn't have the pin holes drilled I guess it makes it easier to drill right through both the mount and into the reciever.

As well scope mt base holes vary in distance from one another depending on where/when + who made them.Harold

I measured the distance between and you are correct on the different distances, accumount sells 3 different ones with different hole distances.
