How much did your guys reloading speed increase when you switched to a turret press?

My single stage speed was about 100 rounds in 1.5 hours at least.

My turret press speed is 200 in 2 hours easy, including full case inspection.

I can knock off about 200 to 250 44 rem mag rounds in an hour if I really keep at it and don't get distracted by the kids. This is loading already inspected, primed, ready to go cases. For the resizing and priming process, I sit in front of the TV with my little Lee hand press and a Honady hand priming tool.

I don't load rifle cartridges on my turret though. That's what the Rockchucker is for.

Its weird that you mention this because I was just thinking of doing exactly that tonight. I bet it would save a ton of time cutting out that part of the process and its easy to do while watching TV.

I think I'll give it a try, though I'll still need to do the depriming at the press since I don't have the hand tool, maybe I'll have to get one ;)

I started off with a turret press and seems to me 125-150 an hour is very doable weighing every fifth or tenth round and breaking out the caliper to confirm c.o.l., giving the bullet a press on a hard surface to make sure crimp is good.

I'm sure a managed something like 185-195/hour rate around x-mas, but that was with faith in the crimp, auto discs and c.o.l. Once your set up and running for awhile, you will develop a bit more faith in your system.

Also, the rate above wasn't running for an hour.....just made a box in 15 minutes or so. I also eyeball every powder charge thrown just for piece of mind.

I'm pretty new to turrets, I got my 550 last year. When I first got it I thought awsome I can crank out tons of rounds in no time. Ya... not really. Cranked out tons of messed up rounds. Once I figured out where problems can occur and that I really need to watch powder levels and primer seating I can load 300+ an hour while being very careful and no probems.

I can do 100 .40S&W in 45 min. with my Lee Classic Turret.

I'm very happy with this setup, its a great, low cost way to make good amounts of pistol ammo.
