Tutorial for beginner in pistol shooting: The stance
Easy way to shoot, using the Wing Chun stance

Many time I see beginner using incomfortable stance or constipated stance. Everybody remember their first time using a handgun and so do I. Weeks ago I though about something very usefull for beginner (and even advanced shooter). I study martial arts since many many many years. And it apen that the Wing Chun stance fit perfectly with shooting. Here is how to do it, maybe it look strange but it's very stable and you can twist easily from the left to the right to shoot many target. Just try it!

For two handed pistol or rifle shooting, Balance is a little better with knees slightly bent , slight lean foreword and the weak side foot a little ahead, in a modified karate or boxing stance . The distance the foot is ahead is governed by recoil ,and weight and strength of shooter, it doesn't have to be ahead much. Both feet together and upright can push a light person off balance with a heavy recoiling gun. But everyone has to find what works for them and their body style and limitations. The above works quite well for me, your mileage may differ.

I have never had any formal Martial Arts training. I have dabbled a little bit with Tai Chi, and my step father was a brown belt in Judo, this was 20 years ago. I have however played and participated in a lot of sports. Football, Rugby, Tennis, Badminton, Ping Pong, Golf, Base Ball, Soccer, Lacrosse, etc.. I have also shot many different firearms, some with the military, mostly privately, and I can say, with out a doubt, that your off foot, or weak side foot forward, has to be the most stable and natural stance that a human can achieve. Why screw with what is natural?

this is also a martial arts position. I guess we all walked before we faught. And, if you adopt the wing chun stance in a gun fight your dead. It might be helpful at the range, but on the street I'd never do it.
