Twist rate and varmint grenades

Snows going fast and time to tune in the new toys is here. I have a .223 with a 1 in 9 twist. To date I've had success with 50 gr V-max bullets. I was wondering how the Barnes 36gr varmint grenades do with this set up ?

Also, how do they hold up to high speeds. I've read that some of the thinner jacketed bullets start to have issues when you push the too fast.

I shot them out of my 1:9 they shot good. They didnt perform as advertised though. Acted more like a fmj then a grenade. I much prefer vmax 40gr+

I have been using them in a 1:9 223 work great for me. Never get exits on ground hogs.

Have used the 62 grain for .243. About as accurate but not nearly as exciting as a hit with a vmax. If you want an awesome gopher bullet look into speers TNT. I use them in my .204 and they're only $19 a box. Will shoot half an inch if I do my part, and are so explosive that I thought I missed the first few gophers I shot this year.

i dunno about the 36gr, but the 50gr work awesome in a 1/9 twist.

I to had issues with the varmint grenades not performing well, some act like a fmj and don't expand. Vmax and the old sx bullets work well on blowing up gophers. I picked up some Nosler varmageddon bullets to try in the 204 if the snow ever goes on my range.
