Twist Rates

Yes and Your still learning about twist rates too - if anything a 1-11 would shoot the 155 " BETTER " then the 178 - FASTER twist for longer heavier bullets and a SLOWER twist for shorter lighter bullets ! ;) RJ

Indeed it did , at least with the .308 , with my 300 Win Mag ( same twist rate ) that rifle for now seems to prefer the 178 g bullets . I did try some other 180 g bullets the other day but unsure if you can still purchase them , they are called SaberTip made by Dominion i think . These seemed to do very well at close range . I only have around 80 of them so kind of hard to find something that works then not being able to replace them again .

Thanks for the reply. Approx how many rounds before re barrel is required and where would you get them done ?

With the 300 wm , I think ~1800, I am at close to 1100 now.

A deep clean on the barrel (4 days of swabbing and soaking) yielded, after two foulers, a 5 shot 0.33 moa group at 109 yards.

Throat is rough but still shoots like it always has......so far.

Dragon Mountain Machine in Quesnel does very good work.

Im using a Tikka T3 Tactical with heavy barrel .
Pretty sure im already over 2,000 rounds and she still shoots good .
Ill sure keep an eye on the grouping this year though .
I know the best grouping i ever had was using 178g Hornady match and AMAX bullets with 71 grains of 4831 .
The group at 135 yards measured .684 so i guess you subtract the size of the bullet so actual is .376 .
Not sure how that translates to MOA at 135 yards though but she still shoots good :) .
