that's my 180b, I love this gun. It run's flawlessly. It shoot's whatever I feed it. It's a short stroke gas piston which is cleaner and more reliable then DI. plus charging handle is on the side. shoots .223 or 5.56 nato. great gun.

that's my buddy Brandon's cz 858. It's also an awesome reliable short stroke gas piston rifle. run's great except surplus ammo is the s**t's with there dead primers. other then that this are two great rifle's that I highly recomend.

Let's here about your's. Thanks Mark

Great?? No not so much. Perhaps the unbastardized original versions of both were, but not them. One has a weak lower receiver the other an ungainly barrel length that is not up to the specs of the original.

The AR180B suffers from many design faults, weak pivot area, poor optics mount, must be modified to become modular. Yes there are fixes but the fact the flaws exist precludes it from being a great rifle. The original AR180 did show some promise but like it's current cousin never did catch on in a big way.

The 858, well it ain't no VZ58,the ungainly non chrome lined barrel takes away and shot at greatness, increasing the maintenance on a simple design. The infamous "gremlin" as well is much to common of a fault.

The 180B has some problems - if you knock on the gas block hard enough, it will rotate out of alignment. As a matter of fact, Armalite used to tell people to wiggle the gas block if the rifle did not work out of the factory.......next, the handguards open on the top. All the hot exhaust from the gas port screws up the sight picture, especially in winter. It is not a bad rifle, but it is hardly great. G36 is great....

They all have their issues. DI guns are dirty and perhaps not as reliable as piston guns. I am amazed at how people knock guns that need a couple of dollars spent on them to get them modular, yet they will then turn around and spend hundreds on crap to hang off their AR15's in order to get them the way they want them. Snobbery. Pure rifle snobbery. I agree. Ar 180's are great guns - with their perceived problems and all. CZ858's are great guns. Mine has never hickuped and never had the gremlin. Both are non restricted and can be shot anywhere. Good nuf for me.

It isn't snobbery,it's a matter of fact.

See what I mean???

How's that? There are indeed issues with both of the rifles in question, there are better rifles out there. Like I said FACT. Neither are great rifles again FACT.
My CZ is a bullet hose used for sh*ts and giggles on the range there is nothing great about it, other than it works 99% of the time and hits what I aim at. It is definitely not what I consider a primary firearm to be used in serious training.

If the fact that I insist of purchasing quality instead of some clapped together piece of junk or refuse to slap airsoft kit on my rifle or own any TAPCOF*CKED aberrations makes me a snob in the eyes of some so be it...then again I could give a toss what they think.

With the ammo malfunctions I don't know what kind of ammo you're shooting but I have an 858 and use surplus ammo and have only had 1 primer not go off, and I've shot over
10 000 rounds of that ammo.
