Two handgun Questions Help Please

Hello

It`s MOST likely been asked BUT after a search of mine with no luck, I`ll ask again Sorry.

Question:

1) There is a 32 ACP Beretta 12(6). Can that be converted by a legal length 106mm 32ACP barrel to Restricted Class OR is the caliber .32 that takes priority and it is forever 12(6). Then Can I buy it with my Restricted PAL, Yes / No ????

2) I have a 12(7) and had one handgun transferred by my elderly father to me. I keep seeing in the EE "qualifies also as 12(7)". Does that mean I can buy it OR do I have to have a direct family member with a 12(6) who can buy it and then transfer it to me? Only bloodline. Yes / No ????

I may be wrong but here's what I believe;

1)The barrel would have to be manufactured to "restricted" length and caliber converted. I've had Walther PP and PPK's converted, 106mm barrel and 380 cal. Not cheap to do.
2)NO, you cannot buy a 12 (7) it would have to be a family member with 12 (6) buy and transfer to you.

1) Unless it’s also converted to something like .380 (which might not be possible) a longer barrel won’t help.

2) As stated above, you cannot buy another 12.7 eligible handgun yourself.
 
As silly as it seems, .25s and .32s are prohibited pistol calibers, and barrel length doesn't affect their status.

Per 12.7 classifications, this from the RCMP website . . .

Individuals do not need to be grandfathered to acquire a prohibited handgun if:

the handgun was made before 1946, and
the handgun is currently registered in Canada, and
they are the child, grandchild, brother, sister or spouse of the lawful owner.
Individuals who acquire a prohibited handgun in these circumstances will have 12(7) printed on their firearms licence. This means that they can lawfully possess a pre-1946 handgun passed on by a direct relative, but they are not authorized to acquire other prohibited handguns.

Any prohibited firearms that an individual acquires must have been registered in Canada on December 1, 1998. This means that even if a licence holder has grandfathered status, they cannot bring a prohibited firearm into Canada as a new import and they cannot acquire a prohibited firearm that has never been registered.

So your 12.6 licensed relative could purchase a prohibited handgun today that was made before 1946, and transfer it to you as a 12.7 . . . at least that's how I interpret what it says.
 
Somebody had a conversion for 32ACP to something like 0.33WTF, I can't remember the details, but it worked for PPKs.

Another point, your father must keep one registered to himself to keep his 12.6
If that was the only one he had and transferred it to you as a 12.7, he will no longer have 12.6, and can't buy any more for you.
Hope that is not the case, if you want more.
Cost wise, I don't see the point of spending a bunch of money to make restricted small pistols, but than , I have a bunch of 12.6 and a old fart, so not up to me to say.
this whole 25,32, 4 inch stuff is so damn stupid.
There use to be less hassle with full auto when I played with that stuff.
My most used gun , is a 4 inch m.19 smith , or colt 357model, but the colt is to nice for a holster, so don't shoot it as much as the smith which has had a action job on it.
 
Some target pistols for Olympics are except, but it does not apply to all 32 s-w guns, think of the colt SAA colt 32, 12-6.
I have the list of the ones that are exempt in my files
