Finally got two sporterized No4's back from bubba. The actionS were good and barrels almost pristine, so they HAD to be brought back as shooters!

THANKS LOU FOR ALL THE HELP AND PARTS!

Now I have to finish off a P-14 and another No1MkIII

Love the smell of linseed oil - best aroma therapy and cheaper than a shrink!

I see that someone else likes the LOU blondes. I have 2 of them...both 1918 #1 Mark III* and both blonde....one in .303 and the other a .410 shotty. Lou refurbed both mine and did a superb job.

Thanks WT, glad you're still enjoying them! Hope you still get some range time even this time of year :)

Fishdoc, nice job, quite a nice pair there. And from the list of next projects, I see you've been bitten by the bug, as you say, quite a perfect therapy. Hope you'll get the chance to head out to the range?

Lou

Thanks guys - going to the range today as we speak. Have to try them out before they go to new homes... I have to try to make a sniper repro next time. One of the guys I shoot with has an original LB No4T with all the trimmings (except crate) so I have a good template to go by. Best therapy there is!

Beautiful job man. Those are very inspirational pieces of work. You make it seem like it wasn't much work. I have a sporterized 1918 SMLE III* passed down in the family and I would LOVE to return it to its original full wood furniture. Is it simply a matter of posting 'WTB' parts ads or what? Did you fins everything you needed with ease here on the EE?

I am going through this now as we speak. It takes searching around. I found a few sight sponsers have some stuff...some places in the states have some...some members answer adds on the EE....gunshows...and other non-sight sponsers have some too. Lots of searching to find every single piece you will need.

No not simple but it is fun.

Rebuilding a No1 if anyone has parts to sell....have add in EE.

No4 parts

The wood is not a problem. The visible front and middle bands are not as much of a problem, nor the swivels. The sticker for me has been the handguard band that slides down the barrel to hold the rear of the rear handguard. And, for a funny reason, so too are buttplate screws hard to find.

Yes, go to the gunshows with a list. Buy 2 when you see them.
