Two original matching 91/30 PU snipers

Very nice examples. You can tell that the scope number stamped on the left of the barrel is original, not ground off and restamped recently in a smaller font at Molot et al.

Easy to see what original font looked like, just look at any of the former sniper Mosins for sale with the scope number lined out.

Not easy to find a matching original. Most I've seen were mismatched, missing the scope etc.

Frosted bores or clean?

Brian:

MH3356 / A-35851 - Molot Import. I purchased it from Pullen's Gunsmithing in Victoria and then sold to you. You were lucky it fell into the hands of someone who wanted Canadian and British sniper stuff more. :)
I am glad that it went to such an appreciative home.

I still have available my 1943 Tula 91/30 PU and ex-Lever Arms 1941 factory made sniper SVT-40 with 1941 PU from Dmitry Epshteyn (no CB on turret and dial appears to be unchanged even though arsenal overhauled 1980). It has a repro scope mount as the battlefield dug up relics on eBay are too far gone. SVT-40 has been verified by Ratnik as a factory sniper.

Some of the stuff that passes through Pullen's is amazing.

Yes, they're both definitely from the Molot export but did not receive any Russian export markings for whatever reason.

Yes sir, thanks for being patient with me and showing me all your cool stuff! There is no more appreciative home for original matching Mosins :)

Both of the rifles have excellent bores, surprisingly.

To clarify though, Molot made absolutely no modification to any of the sniper rifles they exported other than export marking them. The force matching was all done at the Soviet depots / repair facilities long ago.

The reason I asked about the bores is, with Mosin snipers, I've never yet seen a perfect one. There's always something....either mismatched, dark bore, something.

Sounds like you found a couple of nice ones!

I have a Molot import one in excellent condition with a perfect, mirror shinny, like new and tight .3095" bore, I doubt it was ever fired after leaving the factory.

Ah, those old russian snayperskaya rifles!

And boy, do they ever shoot when all the planets are aligned, wind is quiet and you feed them their preferred load!
Got this one at the end of a chrono session last summer and it made my day. Aimed at the upper point of the square.
I think I got it pretty well regulated.

PP.

Meh... How those rifles are better than my sportster moison with Bushnell scope? I got it for 130 only. And it has pistol grip.

I'm not sure if that comment was made as a joke, or you have simply have little appreciation for collector and vintage firearms? Either way, its funny.

To the OP, Those are fine looking rifles. I hope they stay in your family for a long time.
