Two Remington 700 BDL Rifles In 7mm 08

I have two Remington 700 BDL rifles in 7mm 08 and I am trying to decide whether to sell one or keep both.
One is all factory and in Exc condition, the other has a lite stainless barrel and weighs about a pound less than the all factory model.
My concern is if the scope gives out while I am at the camp during hunting season the all factory model has iron sights.
Its nice to have a backup gun in the same caliber but I can't keep both. I am getting older and want to cut back my collection.
What's your opinion on the situation?
Where do I look to find the year of manufacture for my Remington 700?

I'd just get a spare scope, sight it in on the rifle and then remount your original scope. This is less stuff to carry and has worked for me. Here's a site with the barrel codes h ttp://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes

The older I get, the more I appreciate a lighter weight rifle.7mm-08 is not a big kicker so the lighter one would be my choice.

Buy a good scope and the chances of failure are greatly reduced. Leave the chinese stuff at home.

...done this for decades ...what's the point of doing all the work of getting to camp if your gun malfunctions? ...i've seen it happen; i've had it happen ...i have two of every important gun/calibre ...they do no harm sitting in your safe

Long journeys and I always bring a back up rifle.
If you like both, find something else to sell to remedy
the moohlah'$ issue.
Or buy an ell-cheepo lever worthy of your hunt.

Use a good scope and take a spare if it comforts you. I use QD rings like Weavers or similar style.

I would keep the light weight one.
Have two scopes sighted in on it, with some type of quick detachable mounts. Pack the spare scope in your pack.
