When it comes to semi-auto's, what are your preferences?

I must admit that for myself it's purely aesthetics. If it looks good, it looks good. But in asking around amongst fellow shooters, this simple question seems to evoke some strong emotions.

I've been looking for the history of two-toning, but haven't found anything substantial. My basic understanding is that earlier competition shooters would hard-chrome the frame to help prevent rust from their hands. I would also imagine that there's less noticeable holster wear? But considering today's manufacturing processes, does it now come down to simple look and feel?

I really like the look of most pistols, two toned, blued, stainless it doesn't matter like the the old SAS motto that I heard "if it goes boom, it will do" all gun are cool but looks are up to the person laying the cash on the table.

Can't say i am a huge fan of 2-tone so given the choice i'd go solid, but it wouldn't sway me from buying a nice purpose built pistol if it was only avail in 2-tone. I'd probably buy a CZ Tac Sport or new Sig P220 10mm 2 tone.

That Sig220 10mm looks pretty slick in two tone.

ya not too shabby! (but op you should add more options to the poll, like "all solid" or "all stainless" and "all blued", right now i can't vote)

I hate a gun that twinkles in the sunlight or distract me in anyway. I usually just pick a blued one (not an option in the poll). I'm more interested in how smooth the trigger is and how it shoots. I'll take the gun with a scratch on it that shoots awesome over the pretty shiny one with a gritty trigger.

Not too shabby at all. The poll's options are there to address just the two tone question. In hindsight, I should have had a 'None - Only Solid for Me'. Ahh well.

This is my idea of a dead ###y two tone. The slide usually takes most of the holster wear, so I think the stainless slide/ blued frame combo will still look great years down the road.
