Made a visit to my local merchant of death today on a totally unrelated purpose. While I was waiting to talk to the clerk, I looked in the pistol display case. Lo and behold, buried behind some Norinco stuff was the damndest thing. I checked and it looked like a Broomhandle Mauser C-96(is that the right term?). It had a brand new stock, and a 16" BARREL?

I'm no expert, but most C-96's I seen are often prohibited because the Treaty of Versailles or some damned thing limited barrel length. Does anybody have one of these or know anything about it? I'm thinking it's a cool piece of iron, and it may, nay, will distract me for weeks thinking about it!

P.S. No, I am not on drugs (at least, not anymore).

TOTSE member?

They are not prohib by name.

To respond to your question: re: TOTSE I have no idea what you're talking about. By "merchant of death" remark, I am not an anti-gun zealot. That would make me a hell of a hypocrite considering what' in the locker!

What I want to know is if anyone owns or has any knowledge about these. Are they new mods' or anything. I really like them!

The only prohib variants of the C96are the so-called "bolo" models (so named because of an alleged fondness for them attributed to the Bolsheviks) or the post 1920 Weimar police pistols with shortened bbls. The standard C96 is classified restricted.

Lever Arms has (or had?) refurbed C96 carbines with new wood for sale.
