TX3. vs. T3

Comparing a used gun price with a new cost for the T3 or T3x is not what I would say is a good argument. I like the Winchester Supremes but the Tikka rifles are just fine.

What I was getting at is there are a ton of gently used guns of better quality for a lot less

But ok how about this. Cabelas shows Model 70 for $1099.99 The cheapest tikka t3x is $959.99. I find it hard to see why someone wouldn't spend the extra $140 on a gun that is made from steel and wood instead of some alloy and plastic.

Tikkas have an advantage that is shared by Browning X-Bolts:

They exist.

Almost everything else mentioned in this thread is either a Unicorn, or so close that almost constant EE browsing is required to get one. I've never seen rifle supply this bad.

I remember when the PS3 came out... lineups around the block. You could just walk in and buy an Xbox 360. So I bought an Xbox 360.

Love them or hate them, you can walk into almost any store and buy almost whatever caliber you want in a Tikka or XBolt.

The question was comparing the t3 and the t3x. All you tikka haters can got hate in a tikka hate thread. There should be one comming up before the end of the day, and all the regulars will be there.

Couldn't agree more...and the question was very well answered with the first comment. The last Tikka worth paying a premium for was the 595/695 series. The T3 was a good bang for its buck when introduced but the price went up over the years to the point that the buyer wasn't getting what they were paying for.

Totally agree ! I have had several T3s from .223 up to and including 9.3X62, never had an issue regardless of how rough they were treated, regardless of how hot or cold it was.
My biggest mistake was swapping several of them for other rifles that ended up being of lesser quality or reliability.

I was never a Tikka fan. Accurate yes, but felt so cheap and plastic everything

Couple years back I was in the market for a portable fast twist 223. Pretty much was forced into a T3 Lite 8 twist. Of course it shot awesome, it's easy to like a rifle that groups so well with no work

Being a gun nut with a love for nice things I replaced the shroud with an Atlas aluminum job. Oversized tacticool bolt knob? Sounded good! Aluminum trigger guard - wow now we're dressing this Tikka up. Was expensive but improved the look and feel of the rifle big time. Replaced plastic stock with a McMillan Sako Compact fiberglass job, also $$$ but feels like a real rifle now

I'm in the process now of another Tikka "build" this one will be a left hand CTR in 260Rem, McMillan A3-5 stock

They're a vanilla rifle. Nothing to get excited about. A real work horse. The day I decide I need a rifle that will live its life on the back of a quad, I'll consider a Tikka T3 Super Lite Stainless. Until then, there isn't a spot in my safe for one.

I like the Tikka T3's & T3x's. Just think they're a tad over priced, that's all.

They're not over priced. Our dollar is just really weak. Minus 25% of $1000 and you got about the price they were before the Canadian dollar said, "Oh no, Justin Trudeau!"

Just have to watch for deals, I bought my T3 SS for $700 new...love it, not sure I would pay $1000 for one though...

Haven't played with a T3X yet...

I bought a brand new T3 Hunter SS 300WSM this summer with Burris E1 3-9x40 scope, rings, and mounts for 900.00

This was my first tikka, love the gun....very accurate and nice to carry. I'd buy another one again. :)

How does it shoot?
I was thinking about a T3 Hunter in 300WSM as well since I already have components for one...
