Good afternoon CGNers

A few years back I got a Bubba'd Type 38 from Auction and took it to the range. First firing I was able to shoot 4 of 5 rounds. One of them the primer was struck but didn't detonate. I was using very old IMR3031 (Rusting inside container) I was also using 70's (NOS) RWS Primers. I took the misfired round home and took it apart. Powder was fine and primer was not detonated. That day is was -18 out. I then made some new rounds using both CCI and Federal Match primers. No misfires but the temp that day was about 5 degrees. I then redid some RWS Primers and had no issues when the temp was above freezing.

I checked the firing pin OAL and it matches exactly what it should. So this leads me to believe that the issue is with the spring especially when it's cold out.

Am I on the right path or am I missing something?

Does anyone have a spare spring to sell?

I know Numrich has some but hearing about the delays at the border (CBSA) I'm wondering (Hoping) I can find a substitute locally.

Thanks

What I have done in a case like that is install a small spacer inside the bolt behind the spring, also springs can be stretched a little to bring them back to their original length, have done that as well on some of my antiques.

I'll try the spacer and if that doesn't work I'll try stretching. If all else fails I'll place an order with Numrich.

Does anyone know the stock spring length?
