I would just like to find any information about its value and how easily it can be found in Canada. For those who don't know, its the Chinese clone of the M44 Nagant.

I handled one last year when I went to Maine on vacation at the Kittery Trading Post but it was pretty beaten up but I fell in love with it.

Is there any reason you want one over an actual M44?

If you like the M44's - have you considered looking for a polish M44? They are outstanding quality (if taken care of).

I've always been attracted to Chinese military firearms for some reason. Same with Japanese WW2 stuff. It has nothing to do with quality for me.
 
Mosin-Nagant Type 53 carbines are always in pretty rough shape and are fairly rare in Canada. In the last 10 years, I think I have had about 2 in the shop.
 
I have always wondered why they seem so plentiful in the states and are uncommon up here. I have never seen one in person myself.

I've always been impressed with fireballs the 44 belches out, regardless of make. No one can touch that type of coolness!
 
International Firearms aka Century Arms formerly of Montreal imported a small number into Canada. The majority were imported from China by Navy Arms in New Jersey, USA and by Globe Firearms in Arizona, USA. Some were captured during the Vietnam war and brought back into the USA by returning GI's.

Seems to really limit my options :(

Im sure if I look hard enough, I find one in working condition in Canada. There has to be one for sale somewhere.
 
I've had two at the shop in the last 10 years, so there are at least two out lurking about somewhere !
 
Post a want to but (WTB) in the EE forum on here and be patient.

The one thing you can count on is someone will get an itchy arse to buy something new and ###y and may part with what is old and unused but gold to you. Seems to be a fair amount of that still going on...not that it ever happens to me:redface:
