type 56-5

Another fellow showed me this rifle. He was trying to get info on it.All I seen marked on it was Type 56-5 over cal 7.62x39mm on the left side of reciever below the sight.A triangle stamp at the front of the bolt shroud.Lever on right side has 2 positions marked L and D.It is in new condition.Folding Bi pod on barrel and 2 mags (curved, maybe 30 rds) He would like an estimate on value.Dont know if I can get pics.

As a prohib, lucky to get $300 for a NIB example.

Prohib - back of his Licence should read "12(5) OIC #13"

I've seen two different references to Type 56-5. One referred to a semi-auto RPK (which is what you describe) and the other referred to a refined/match Type 56 for US import (haven't seen one of these).

IIRC when they were "for sale" they retailed for $475ish with two 40rd mags and one 75rd drum. Given the prohib SAP status the current worth is debatable as it is in theory a paper weight but should be between $300 and $500 dependent on condition and accessories.

I think The RPK came with the 40's and drum - the regular 56 came with 2 30's....I think I still have a receipt somewhere....sigh...

Then I got cheated !!!! Bcs when I bought mine in the styrofoam box there was the 75rd drum and 2 x30 rd mags in their respective slots.
