The quad rail just looks slapped on IMO. It's not "modernized" it's an afterthought solution to a problem.(admittedly a modern problem) I'm all for doing whatever you want to your stuff, paint if pink and put streamers on it, I'll back you 100%. This is just my take on it only, and it could change tomorrow...
It's all in the eye of the beholder, and function vs. form. The quad rail, on this rifle, it's just too much for me to be a peace with.
I'm certain that there's a more subdued option for accomplishing the task.
I, personally, like my wood guns wood and my black guns black. THOUGH I have been seeing some ARs with wood that look beautiful, so who knows.

Yeah but the type 81 quad rail looks like it will mess with the balance with all that crap moved to the front. I prefer to keep it balanced to the rear if i absolutely cant have it centered. my crappy eyes do prefer some kind of optic tho.
Was taken in China by factory. We sent to a guy who wanted to confirm something on the production gun. Because it was just a cell phone pic we asked he didn't plaster it all over the internet...

Good god. I watched that and lost a ton of respect for mac. I almost threw up when I saw that AR stock and keymod system on that poor AK. I mean, my god, the at has that far tube and butt because it has a reciprocating buffer. If Eugene stoner coulda made it thinner, he woulda.
I'm ok with modding an AK, but why would you pick that crap??? Mac should google magpul's buttstock options for the AK. And how do you remove the gas tube with that rail system installed? Probably needs an Allen key.
Such a crappy setup. Very much fail.

Not saying his channel is gospel, but he has a point about modernizing rifles. The design of his custom AK is his personal taste.
Only fail I see is the Magpul stock and your self-importance.

The video was made in 2015 right around the time the magpul stocks hit the market. At the time the AR stock was a common mod and the Z wasn't widely reviewed yet.

I have no issue with modding AK's, but his choices were the very last ones I (or most other ppl) would select to defend clagging Gucci onto a Kalashnikov. YMMV.
And the magpul AK stocks were out for over a year when he made that vid. That folding AR stock is all kinds of 1998 and looks awful, is oversized, and not nearly as robust as a basic wooden AK setup.
An extra sentence, maybe in fewer than 20 words, you could have provided an update.......it would have been much appreciated.
