I just ordered a 5 round AK mag from Lever Arms. Going to check the geometry and determine if a Type 81 mag could be easily shortened (or not) for bench shooting, hunting, etc.

If not, I'll just convert the AK mag and live without the BHO.

I wish I'd have bought more spare mags... 5 mags is not going to be enough once I start modding some.

Haven't said much, but just as a benchmark, I ordered a fixed stock on March 21 2016, thought I ordered 12 mags, just double checked and I only got 10 total (8 in addition). Two separate mag orders were added to original order. Also between then and now my pal became an rpal so the number changed from .0001 to .0003...no shipping notice as of yet...not #####ing, just sayin'...

That number goes up one every time the CFO modifies information on your PAL and every time you renew. Basically it's how many cards you've been issued. Other than that it means nothing and can be omitted when you call in to do a transfer or when giving your number for someone to verify your PAL.

Once the next batch of mags becomes available from TI I'm going to buy another four or so. Other than that I may try to find a single 5/10 pmag (if there is such a thing) and modify it for the rare occasion I shoot this one from a bench. Once I get the sights zero'd I doubt it will ever be benched again though.

I really feel for those of you who are waiting for this gem.

Day 2 at the range. Played with the sights and changed to Norinco 122 gr FMJ. It hits lower than the Dominion, must not be as hot a load.

I will let the groups speak for themselves. The black circle measure 5 1/2 inches and I was able to get some solid 5 inch groups today.

The VZ 58 has a cheep BSA red dot. I think I could do better with a red dot on the T81.

Here's hopping everyone receives their T81's soon.

This shipping thing is a joke. There is no reason that with a little extra staff that 200-400 rifle could not be sent out per day. A basic spreadsheet a couple packers and labelers and one should be going out every 3-5 minutes. I believe it is called an assembly line, henry Ford perfected it on Dec. 1, 1913. It not like TI didnt have the time to set up a spread sheet for order and prepare mailing labels.
I have seen church rummage sales and stuffing food for the needy boxes more efficient than this. The food works like this, two adults, one kides= a large box, 4 cans of tuna (the mags), one bag of pasta (the sling) One toy fr the kid (the rifle) put it all in the box, tape it, label it sending off to Billy-Joe and Bobby-Sue

Not worth the security risk. We'd rather take extra week's flak on here than wake up to find the container missing one morning
 
I got out to shoot mine briefly yesterday. I had limited time and a short range but wanted to get a few rounds through it. After a patch through the barrel I gave it a go. No issues functioning at all. I really like it. Had the sight drum set at 1 and was hitting low at 25 yards. Also was hitting right. I will adjust the sights when I can shoot from a bench. Recoil was very mild, everything seems solid. Can't wait to get out again and spend some more time with it.

I saw lots of posts on the fixed stock but haven't read any posts on the folding stocks? Did I miss it?
Has anybody received their folding stocks yet? Or has anybody got shipping info yet for the folding stocks T81? If so let us know :).....Please!

Might as well chime in.
I ordered mine December 31. No tracking number, nothing. Don't care because I have plenty to play with until it arrives.
Take your time TI.

Honestly a sling is worth nothing. They are something I just expect to come with Norinco rifles along with a manual and cleaning kit. Magazines add value but nobody should care about a sling.

Has anyone gotten theirs with the original foam packing insert intact?

No one forced you to buy one, you agreed to all this crap before they took your money. Either ask for a refund or wait patiently, acting like a child won't make anything happen any faster.

Oil bottles and slings?
Sling was an option, you could have said no if you don't think it's worth $30.
Oil bottles, mine came with an oil bottle, I'll never use it. It will probably sit on a shelf next to the one from my SKS until I either lose it or I give it away. No original cardboard or foam, just an oily rifle in a plastic bag zip tied into the box and two packages of two magazines wrapped in oily brown paper in plastic bags zip tied into the box. It's a nice box, I'm keeping it :p

I heard a rumor in my head that they are reading all the posts and anyone who's acting like a child is getting a shipping time out, the package will sit in the warehouse for 24 hours before shipping. :stirthepot2::kickInTheNuts:
