TYPE 81 folding stock more pictures (DAY 6 Update "a bent rifle")

I just received my rifle 2 days ahead of CP schedule.
First thing I did was verify wether or not 1it was bent like OP's ; to my great relief it wasn't.

as expected, lighter color stock insert is mismatched with wood. I got a few tricks up my sleeve with paint so I will try to match it in a way that can be replicated and if I succeed will share with others who might not want to wait for Q1 shipment for a replacement.

Other than that the rifle looks good, I haven't fieldstripped it completely yet, just removed the dust cover and checked it cycles OK.
I'm going to try to go shoot it this week because if I don't, I won't be able to shoot it for a good while due to a scheduled shoulder surgery.

I'm stoked!

P.S. can anyone enlighten me as to what those two metal rods/pieces are for? (right on top of the sight on the table). It was in the same bag as the oil bottle.

Those for front sight elevation adjustment.

One is your front sight elevation tool and I was told the other (4-5 sided rod) is for scraping carbon from the gas piston or something like that.

Well looked at the metal pieces and front sight, can't really figure it out. Manual doesn't say anything about it either

Youza.
The smaller piece goes on the front sight and the punch in the tool kit fits through the hole to use as a turning handle.
The longer piece is for cleaning gas port according to another member

Just got my fixed and folder this afternoon!

Folder is bent like the OP's!!! bent to the right as you shoulder it. Looks to be poor quality control! Check your rifles!!!!! Fixed might be ever so slightly too, but hard to tell the way I was checking. Should be ok I think.

Wasn't the packaging. The boxes were well packed and the boxes were in perfect condition with everything zip tied down nicely.

Disappointed, but at least one seems to be ok.

ouch! thats not good news. maybe thats why they shipped out last? TI stood around for a wile scratching their heads trying to figure out how to deal with it?

All I ask for is a t81 and now an unknown percentage is @#$@#%$# bent ! I don't believe this is a packaging issue. It is from the factory which is a QC issue. Before anyone buys these rifles, ask for photos and check to make sure it is not bent.

Indeed. There are good folders, mine is straight but make sure if they pop up on the EE to get good top down photos of it before purchasing.

How about your folding stock? Is it bent like mine?

Huh, what a surprise....Not. I seriously doubt that we will see similar, massive QC problems like this with the US -built M10X. Just saying. Maybe your ought to redirect your hate towards TI and Norinco instead of M+M Industries. Might be more productive, not to mention deserving....
