Hello guys! My type 81 lmg is gorgeous but I don't know why, expect the gas piston... It seems it had alot of pitting before and was just oiled and put there... Am I the only one?
New from last shipment...

The rings portion of the piston look intact, so function should not be affected.
Corrosive ammunition and uncleaned?
What is the inside of the gas cylinder like?
Any chance that the piston was repurposed from a used rifle?

That looks like chrome plating was not properly applied to that piston during manufacture process. White shiny surface should be uniform to prevent corrosion of the piston. It will still work but may not last as long as properly chromed piston, especially if not cleaned properly after shooting.

Im sure others out there have this problem as well. Id definitely get TI to send u a new one! Be sure to also check under the redish colored safety plate for rust.
