Type 81 Magazines - where to get / how to convert?

Hi all,

Looking for type 81 Magazines, have read that you can convert other mags to work, was a link on CGN on how to convert but seems it is MIA now.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also were the type 81 drum mags ever sold in Canada?

You can convert AK Mags. I believe there are tutorials on YouTube. Drum mags were sold in Canada.

It’s very simple - you need to file a slot at the back above the catch 1/2” down 3/8” wide. On front 1/4” down. Best to do a little at a time, and test fit. Of course hold open won’t work.

TI still shows the 5/5 round mags in stock, if you want a mag that still has the BHO feature. AK mags can be converted as above otherwise.
Far as I can tell the Type 81 drums that TI had were the same/interchangeable with regular chinese AK drums.

Awesome - bought a promag and played with it - converted pretty easily, next one will be prettier!

Threw a WTB up on EE for Type81 mags/drum - I really like the hold open.
