Type 81, market futures

Asking people to pay your share of your taxes is a bit ridiculous, I was told retail price minus 10% and I typically stand by that. 1500 for the full set makes more sense, maybe we will see that once the hype dies down or another shipment comes. In the meantime I wont pay sako prices for chinese junk (and if anyone takes offense to that i will remind you i've never seen a bent sako.

Your choice. I just pointed out how much people actually paid - solely for calculation purposes.

Maybe YOU wont. But I and many many others certainly will.

Take a bunch of newbies to the range and offer them the chance to shoot a Type 81 or a Sako. I guarantee you most will dive for the Type 81, be grinning ear to ear after each mag dump, make action movie poses and be posting selfies of the experience on social media for the next week. Meanwhile the lastest fudd1000 model offered by Sako sits unappreciated like a fat chick on prom night lol..... no offense.

I’d 100% take the 81 over any Fudd gun. They look like a crap load of fun.

But I can get 3 SKS in full tapco “tatacool” for one 81

I’m not saying it’s not better than an sks but it’s still 5 rds of 7.62x 39

But, if it’s your money you can do what ever you want!!
My point is more aimed at the ones still up there.

What I personally find amusing (discussing the particular subject), how many people are asking over $2K for their colour mismatched folder, not even unfired. I guess they missed TI's offer at the time to replace the bakelite folder pieces with real wood. Wondering if I can $3K for mine? I might get tempted.

Real wood ? they actually offered that? or do you mean the different colored blond plastic bits?

From a Collectors standpoint the PLA type 81-1s mostly seem to have the dark plastic equipped, and the furniture stained dark to match it. The Blondy look appears to be a Canadian model thing.

I've had newbies amazed when they hit a pop can at 200 yards with not a lot of effort, but yeah I agree that semis are great and on a whole other level. I was referring more to the build quality, and at 2k in Canada there are so many better options. I think skss are great and 1/5 the cost. Lots of company's make accurate reliable semis that you can use optics on, most cheaper and better quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do go up in value eventually however.

I will not feel at easy to pay up to 2k for a rifle borrowed from Trudeau. He can change his mind and request it back any time. At least my sks was 200$.

yeah, i kinda feel the same way with all my military semi. that they are on borrowed time or one foot in the grave. at least my lmg is $2000 and not g36 $6000. lol.

I got to play with my LMG in the backyard. I'm pretty happy with mine. Fit and finish are better than expected, gun ran perfectly. I will be adjusting the sights and doing some accuracy testing with the irons. Very happy so far. I won't be selling mine.

I think you are correct but at least it is colour matching. No dark plastic here but that was during times when sales were slow in 2018, so TI did some compromising. Probably hoarding those now for sale later, like with the drum cut out wheel and the sling.
