Cross posting this from the main Type 81 Pictures, Range Reports and Photos thread.
The target is an IDPA target. (the 'down zero' circle is 8" diameter) The aim point I fashoned from 3/4" x 3/4" black target patches, and works such that the Aimpoint H1 dot nicely covers the black square at 100 yards.
So Cole's notes on the TI handguard holding zero sufficiently to mount and run a red dot? No bueno.
I suspect that the tiny fasteners are not up to the job of securing the top of the hand guard in place for repeated firing cycles - even locktited.
I'd be interested in seeing a high speed slow motion video, but I imagine its like watching a cowboy trying to ride a bull.
The below photo shows a 10 round group (circled in red), followed by taking the top rail off to simulate cleaning.
I fired another 10 rounds on another target with the irons, then put the rail back on and fired another 10 round group at this target (circled in blue).
The MPI shift is obvious.
It is probably worth pursuing further (maybe drilling and tapping this rail and hand guard for larger, more robust fasteners), but as it stands I wouldn't recommend buying one thinking it is going to perform from the go.
