Mods bare with me. I know it's another Type 81 thread, but this is to ask a specific question and poll the audience interested in or actually purchasing the Type 81.

Question: For those actually purchasing, or planning on purchasing the Type 81, which version would you prefer?

The rifle (either fixed or folding), or the LMG version, or both a rifle and LMG?

Trying to prove/disprove interest in the LMG over the rifle or not kind of thing.

Edit: don't vote as if money was no object. Vote based on what you can actually afford. Be realistic. True market potential is what is trying to be captured here.

Of course. Don't want "I wish I could buy both". I want to know what people will be actually buying if both are available given their financial ability and actual desire to purchase.

No what if. Actual intent is what is of interest.

I must live in a cave because I didn't know there was an lmg version. Any word on price for it? Is it pretty much the same thing but with a bipod?

Trying to encourage the powers that be to bring it in, and dispel a potential myth that there might not be as much interest. Front sight is at the muzzle instead of back near the gas port, the bipod, longer barrel, carry handle and different wood stocks. No pricing yet or availability.

I intend on getting the regular rifle fixed stock. Hopefully the rear trunnion is like that of AK fixed stocks and then that'll make a later folding stock conversion easy if I should ever desire. Anyways, i digress

Unless you wanted one for some sort of display, I would not waste time on the LMG version. They are just too unwieldy for most shooting except prone.

Some of us like LMG type guns. Fun shooting gongs at distance from prone. And they look cooler haha. Personally I'm hoping it is a race between the RPD and the 81-LMG to see which gets here sooner.

Oh the waiting.

The LMG version with a cut down barrel and different front sight certainly would make for a decent AK clone :) although the trigger group is situated a little far from the mag release, unlike the AK.

You read my mind. Shorten the barrel to 18.6", turn the OD down to 0.590 for an AK front sight, and thread the muzzle to accept an AK-style brake.

Also, once I get my hands on one I'll start working on fabricating the idea I showed you in PM for the VZ.
